Peter Kasirivu

Minimize

Peter accepted the Lord in 1981 after a testimony from a schoolmate and his brother. Although his dream was to become a medical doctor, he was called into ministry work six months after this encounter with the Lord. He began attending East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi , Kenya in 1983 through the sponsorship of a missionary whom he had never met. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology in 1986. Soon after returning to his home church in Kampala , he was privileged to work with a national evangelist who was holding conferences throughout Uganda. These meetings resulted in the planting of eight new churches.

In December 1986, his pastor requested that he assist a small fellowship of believers who needed a preacher. From time to time, Peter visited these 15 people in Ggaba, a small fishing village on the shores of Lake Victoria , and in 1989 the Lord specifically called him to serve there on a permanent basis. He and his congregation began to pray about a ministry encompassing not only a church but also

youth ministries, evangelism, conferences, and schools—and God began to move. Since then Ggaba Community Church has grown from a congregation of 15 to one of over 1,500 people. In 1990, together with Gerald Sseruwagi, a friend and student at Texas Bible College , he began Africa Renewal Ministries (ARMS). Africa Renewal Ministries’ desire is to reach the lost and to renew the people of Africa through salvation and education. They accomplish this through the love of Christ that provides hope in desperate circumstances. Over time, a number of ministries were begun to assist children, families and pastors through establishing educational ministries, the ministry of Bethany Village (an orphanage), “adopt a village” program, establishing a child care center, ministries in Health & Nutrition, opening a medical clinic in the Gaba community, establishment of Mwangaza Children’s Choir, Pastoral training, Adult/ Family ministries which include Micro—business management, vocational training and money management.

In January 2007, Pastor Peter founded Gaba Bible Institute with 35 students and a commitment to equip Christian leaders for the transformation of society. Today there are 105 students from 42 different tribes in Uganda , Rwanda , Burundi , Congo , Ethiopia , Tanzania and Kenya who are being equipped as leaders.

Pastor Peter is a man who has traveled to more than 15 nations teaching leaders as well as preaching the Gospel. He is known for his passion for developing leaders, a service he does with passion through his weekly TV program on LTV known as the Excellent Life as well as the annual outreaches to Uganda ’s many universities. His greatest love is to help and encourage up-coming leaders. Peter has so far written one book, YOUR VISION IS YOUR FUTURE

Peter and his wife Irene were married in 1994, and they have three children -- James , Lydia and Joy.
